Krohman prepares for next chapter at Illinois

She’s the best softball player in Simon Kenton High School history. And it’s difficult to imagine the 8th Region has ever produced a talent like Macy Krohman, given the fact the Simon Kenton standout earned Kentucky Miss Softball this spring.

Yes, that same Macy Krohman who committed to play at the University of Illinois as a freshman in high school. She’s now a graduate of Simon Kenton and recently moved to Illinois, where she will begin her college career this fall for the Fighting Illini of the Big Ten.

With the exception of holidays, who really pays attention to a calendar? One local family definitely has an important date circled on the calendar each year. It’s the Schloemer family, one of the most iconic names in Northern Kentucky prep basketball history. That date is Jan. 7. For brothers Doug and Mark Schloemer, what happened exactly 47 years ago tonight is more than a date on the calendar.
